Dymondia

Dymondia is groundcover that is native to South Africa. It grows in tight mats, 2 to 3 inches deep; it spreads slowly by offsets. It has narrow (1/8 in.) leaves that are 2 to 3 inches long, they are deep grayish green on top and they are rolled at the edges to show cottony white undersides. Summer flowers are yellow, 1 to 1 1/2 inch wide daisies, half buried in foliage. Deep roots give established plants considerable tolerance of aridity, but the plants must be watered. They are often used between paving blocks and stepping stones, in rock gardens. They can take light foot traffic. It requires full sun and part shade. It is very drought tolerant; however, water may be needed at higher temperatures.
