Pachysandra spreads by underground runners. Its stems reach 10 inches in deep shade and 6 inches in dappled shade. Its leaves are rich dark green (yellowish in full sun), 2-4 inches long, in clusters along stems. Set 6-12 inches apart in rich preferably acid soil. Feed during growing season for best color. May spread moderately but is not aggressive or weedy. Good transition between walks or lawns and shade loving shrubs.
