Aptenia Purple, also known as Purple Apple, is part of the iceplant family. It stems about 2 feet long and has an abundance of heart-shaped or oval-shaped bright green fleshy leaves. It blooms small purple flowers. It is a mat-forming perennial herb that grows in flat clumps on the ground. Aptenia Purple requires little water and it blooms in late spring to late fall. It requires partial shade to full sun.
